INTERN JOB POSITIONS

HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
MONITOR

Human Rights Violations Monitors will be provided with a list of the precursors
to genocide, along with a list of the countries that we are currently
monitoring. Each intern will monitor one or more hotspots. The countries
that have been the focus of attention in the past include Sudan, Colombia,
Chechnya, Afghanistan, Rwanda (the Great Lakes Region), Aceh-Indonesia,
Moluccas-Indonesia, Sulawesi-Indonesia, and Borneo. Interns will be responsible
for researching their assigned country, looking for news stories from
reliable print and online media sources, and updating the Human Rights
Violations Chart.

ASSISTANT EDITOR of THE CENTER for the PREVENTION
of GENOCIDE JOURNAL

The GPC has an expansive and interactive website and among its many features
is the online journal. The inaugural issue was published in late August
2001. Interns would be responsible for not only updating and maintaining
the journal, but also for finding legitimate authors who would contribute
articles to the journal. Thus, this position requires interns who not
only have strong writing skills, but who are also capable of initiating
communications with prominent authors within the community.

FULL-TIME RESEARCHER

ITWI requires individuals who have a strong background in research. This
position would involve extensive research of a number of different possible
areas of interest to ITWI. At times, interns in this position would assist
other interns with research into their assigned countries. Those in this
position would be responsible for only the research aspects of ITWI and
its many projects. Thus, much time will be spent in the libraries around
the city, including the Library of Congress.

GRANT WRITER/RESEARCHER

The Center is very active in applying to a number of different types of
grants. Interns in this position will be responsible for researching the
variety of grants that the Center would qualify for and then writing the
grant proposal itself. Interns with a strong background in research and
writing would be ideal for this position.

EVENT COORDINATOR

The event coordinator will be responsible for organizing and scheduling
conferences, lectures, and fundraising events. Most notably, the event
coordinator will be responsible for organization and planning the Center’s
continued Lecture Series on Survivors of Modern Genocide, and the accompanying
television series.

FUNDRAISING

Interns in this position will plan, develop, and coordinate various fundraising
events. The GPC is looking for individuals who have initiative and can
use their creativity to develop relationships with key fundraisers in
the community.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Interns in this position will be responsible for all aspects of advertising
for the Center. This will involve devising an advertising campaign, as
well as making contacts with local television and radio stations. This
position also involves UN Outreach, US Government Outreach, Community
Outreach, and Business Outreach.

SATELLITE IMAGERY

The Center has been given access to satellite imagery technology, which
will play a key role in our ability to make a determination as to whether
genocide is occurring in a particular region. Interns who choose to work
with this technology will be trained by experts in the area of satellite
technology, and will have hands-on experience in using this technology.

OFFICE MANAGER & ASSISTANT OFFICE MANAGER

The GPC currently needs interns to fill the positions of office manager
and assistant office manager. Duties in these positions will involve administrative
oversight, project supervision, and assistant to the President.

Also Other Positions Available:

1: Assistant to the President.

2: Intern Coordinator.

3: UN Liaison.

4: Media Liaison.

5: Congressional Liaison.
